Every spring we keep a close eye on the river and the ice conditions. This year was a milder winter than normal and the ice wasn’t as thick. When we have thicker ice,a small rise in temperature doesn’t have much of an effect. Last Wednesday we has a considerable amount of rain followed by a day of 10 degree weather, just enough to get things moving!
At 2pm the in front of the lodge river was frozen, in fact I saw two deer crossing on the ice. The photos below were taken at 2:15pm, amazing how fast things can happen.
The ice jam below the lodge caused the water to back up on the lawn.
The next morning, Ice deposited on the lawn after the rise. We’ll have plenty for our drinks in June!
