River Report

Camp Bonaventure Fishing & River Report June 22nd to June 28th, 2020

What a wonderful week to be on the river and in camp! We cannot argue that this summer is unlike one we’ve ever seen, but we can take a moment to enjoy the positive outcomes that find us. This week we’ve made new friends, shared fishing stories, landed and released some beautiful salmon and enjoyed some mouth-watering meals. What more could you ask for?

A Huge shout out to Micheline who’s skills were shining as bright as she did this week at Camp Bonaventure! Congrats on your catch Micheline!

The weather was still a little on the hot side again this past week and the rain we so hoped to received came in much smaller quantities than announced. But that didn’t stop our guests and guides from having a wonderful time on the river!

Luc Legault landed this beauty on the Bonaventure River! Congrats Luc! It’s always so nice having you and Micheline as our guest!

The Bonaventure river sparkled this week as the fresh salmon continue to make their return back home. The stunning colors and clarity of the Bonaventure were truly breathtaking. The Bonaventure began its week flowing at approximately 19 cubic meters per second and ended the week at 16 cubic meters per second. With the little bit of rain that arrived mid-week, the water levels did manage to do some minor fluctuating but not enough to bring us to the average water levels for this time of year.

Dale Fox showed us how it’s done on the Bonaventure this week! Congrats Dale! Nice Catch!

The Grand Cascapedia continued to deliver some wonderful salmon again this week. The rain that we did receive landed in the perfect neck of the woods to help the Grand Cascapedia rise. The Grand began her week flowing at 21 cubic meters per second and ended at 22 cubic meters per second. These values do remain a little lower than average for this time of year but we will take the rain when and where we can get it!

FISH ON! Mac Fox couldn’t let Dale have all the fun! Great catch Mac!

This was our first week fishing the Petite and as always, she’s a hidden gem! The Petite Cascapedia began its week flowing at 16 cubic meters per second and ended at 13.7. These are low levels for this time of year but hopefully the rain in next week’s forecast will help solve that problem.

To be in the right place at the right time! Absolutely stunning!

The flies of choice for this week were a mixture of dry’s and small wets. Dark Green, Dark Blue and Brown bombers were successful for many catches as well as the John Olin, Green Butt and Stone Ghost for the wet flies.

Stay Safe & Tight Lines,
