Welcome back everyone to what we hope will be another great season at Salmon Lodge, Camp Bonaventure and The Club. This season will without a doubt be very different from all others with the Covid-19 pandemic still fluid in the world and many travel restrictions and quarantine controls in place. To all of our dear friends, that feel more like family, that cannot get to us this season, we wish you all the very best and we look forward to seeing you next year. Please know that you will be truly missed by us all. Our teams are thinking of you and we wish you all a safe and healthy 2020 season.
As our spring began to roll around this year our rivers were flooded with moderate amounts of rain on cloudy days and melting snow on the hot sunny ones. Our spring was a healthy mixture of cool rainy days, followed by a reminder of winter’s cold front and then a surprise tease of what summer’s heat has to offer. Our rivers began to take shape the last week of May and spoiled us with beautiful water conditions for the first week of June.
All our rivers were in perfect shape for this beautiful second week of June. The Grand Cascapedia dropped approximately 20 cubic meters per second as the week progressed but is sitting pretty at 40 cubic meters per second. The Bonaventure river is showing off its magnificent clarity and stunning green colour. The Bonaventure river dropped approximately 15 cubic meters per second throughout the week but finished at comfortable 30 cubic meters per second. The Petite Cascapedia only welcomes its first anglers on June 15th but its water levels are average for this time of year ending the week in the 25 cubic meters per second range.
At this time, I would like to thank everyone for their patience, acceptance and understanding as we venture into our new normal. We do not take for granted how fortunate we are to have our camp family composed of the most wonderful guests, guides, lodge staff, management team and ownership group. Here’s to our 2020 season.
Until next week,
Stay safe & Tight lines,
Julia
