The 3rd week of August felt more like the 3rd week of June. The rain we received last weeks rain have our rivers up to just perfect levels and we are back to travelling with our boats. Most of our pools are holding good numbers of salmon and a lot of fresh fall run fish. Its nice to be able to fish our high and medium water pools at this time of the season. The Bonaventure has been producing very well, the water temperatures are perfect , dry fly action is at it’s best! The Petite Cascapedia is fishing very well and it’s also holding a good number of bright fall fish. We have been having some great fishing on the Grand Cascapedia, late summer and fall is one of the best times of the season on the Grand and this year has been no different.
This was Jean Francois Cormier’s first trip to Camp Bonaventure, but not his last!, nice one Jean Francoise, see you next year.
Dale Fox with a nice fall salmon on the Bonaventure, congradulations Dale.
We are begining to use our fall patterns like the Red Francis and GP, it seems anything with orange at this time of the season works the best. The water temperatures are still very favorable for dry fly fishing and we still took most of our fish in free floating bombers this past week. One more week until September…oooh we love September fishing!
David Castleman releasing a fresh one back in the Bonaventure, nice fish David!
Jeffrey Johnson’s first Atlantic Salmon, he’s already talking about next year! Way to go Jeff!
Until next week, tight lines,
Glenn
