River Report

Camp Bonaventure Fishing Report July 22nd to 29th, 2013

Well we finally received the rain we were hoping for and our rivers have a wonderful flow of fresh water!. The Bonaventure and Petite Cascapedia are running at June levels at the moment, great for fishing! The Grand Cascapedia didn’t rise as much as the Bony or Petite but it received a much needed boost and got the fish moving. Sunny days and warm weathwer over the past two weeks made fishing a little more challanging, we have plenty of salmon in all our pools but they were a little harder to get to take.  Last weeks full moon and high tides brought a good run of fresh salmon in our rivers.   With the rise of water we are back to using our boats for travelling from pool to pool. Needless to say all our guides are sporting a big smile. Fishing was a little tougher this past week but we did manage to land a good number of nice fish including a couple of big ones.

Camp Bonaventure guide Marc Poirier releases a nice fish back into the Petite Cascapedia for angler Dan Greenberg.

Now that our rivers are full of water fishing this upcoming week should be great. The weatherman is predicting showers and rain for most of the week, perfect!

Robyn Pelleiier with his first Bonaventure salmon of the season, nice fish Robyn.

Annie Brugere from France never cast a line before, her husband Rene asked her to join him for the day, “nothing to it” says Annie!

The hot fly’s for the week , as you can guess were “Bombers”. The wets that worked well were the Stone Ghost, Silver Blue and the Blue Charm. Small tubes continue to do very well. We have a few new patterns tied for us by Davie McPhail . Davie sent me 15 of his best Atlantic salmon patterns tied on Partridge gold and silver Salar hooks. Davie’s “Posh Tosh” was the hot fly for the week.

Until next week, tight lines,

Glenn
