Camp Bonaventure Fishing Report July 23rd to August 4th, 2013

I’m pleased to report we’ve had another great week of fishing. The rain we received last week raised our water levels and a week of showers has maintained them well. More rain coming over the next few days! The full moon on the 27th brought in a nice run of fresh fish including a good run of grilse. The Bonaventure and Petite Cascapedia are running at early July levels and the Grand Cascapedia is at about normal for this time of the season. Other than a low water and warm temperatures in early July we are having another wonderful season.

Tyler Thompson with his first Atlantic Salmon, Tyler landed six salmon during his three day trip, congradulations Tyler!

Free floating Dry’s continue to be the big producer, our anglers are fishihg more with dry fly’s than anything else, there’s nothing like sight fishing for big salmon in clear water. Small wets have also been responsible for a good number of fish as well. The fly’s of choice – Green, Brown and Blue bombers with brown hackle and white wings and tail.  Wet’s in sizes 8’s 10’s and 12’s, the Silver Wilkenson, Stone Ghost and Davie McPhail’s Posh Tosh were the one to have.

Camp Bonaventure regular Allan Moore has been fishing with us for 18 years, here’s why he keeps coming back. nice fish Allan!

As a special note, – I have just posted our available dates in June and July for the 2014 season on both our Camp Bonaventure  and Salmon Lodge websites. I will post August and September dates as they become available. If any of these openings interest you, please contact me by e-mail  or give ma a call at 418 534 3678.

Until next week, tight lines,
