Camp Bonaventure Fishing Report – June 17th to 23rd, 2013

This past week has been  the best of the season so far. Our water levels and temperatures are just perfect and this weeks high tides brought in a nice run of fresh salmon.  Our lower pools, Poirier and McGuire in particular are fishing extremely well and giving up a few salmon every day. Billingsley Pool and Red Cliff are also holding good numbers of fresh fish.

Marcel Caissie and Camp Bonaventure guide Dany Poirier with a nice Bonaventure salmon!

The gin clear Bonaventure is in  normal June flow and dry fly fishing has been Great. The Petite Cascapedia, a later river than the Bony and Grand is also beginning to fish well. The big run on the Petite Cascapedia usually takes place in late June and early July. We are also doing well on the Grand Cascapedia, however it could use a bit of rain.

Camp Bonaventure regular Micheline Coulombe releases her first salmon of 2013, congradulations Michline!

This weeks fly’s have been the Stone Ghost, Silver rat and John Olin,in sizes 6 and 8 . Tube flys are continuing to do well, including some nice fish taken on micro-tubes. Bombers, especially tied on Green and Dark Brown patterns are hot and responsible for most of the fish this past week. The weather man is caling for showers on Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday, can’t wait!

Lunch time is always special, especially after a great morning on the river.
