River Report

Camp Bonaventure Fishing Report September 10th to 16th, 2012

September fishing at its best! Perfect water conditions combined with a nice fresh run of fall salmon, who could ask for more. Excellent fishing continued through the second week of September. We are seeing good numbers of fall run salmon in all our lower pools. At this time of the season we also have salmon beginning to move down river as well. They have run to the top of the river in the early season and now are heading down river to their spawning pools. When they arrive in a new pool the jockey for position and become more aggressive and very willing to take a fly. The forecast is calling for rain by the middle of next week, a little bump of water will only make things better. As I’m writing this weekly report the Grand Cascapedia is on the rise from thunder storms last night. Should be a great week on the Grand.

“Fly Rod & Reel” magazine’s editior Gregg Thomas lands his first Bonaventure Salmon, Congradulations Gregg!

The fly’s of choice this past week has been the Red Francis, responsible for almost 80% of the fish we have taken. The purple Grape and other maraboo patterns have been doing very well.  Dry’s are also catching a few but the colder water temperatures are making them less attractive.
