Periodically this season and once again this week, I received an e-mail from a client wondering how bad the conditions really were. This person also asked “if the conditions are not great and the fishing is tough, where was I getting the photos for my weekly report ? My answer is simple, first and foremost I’m always honest in my reports and tell it like it is. Are condition ideal?, no , are our water levels low, Yes. Do we have a good run of salmon ?, Yes but most importantly we have excellent guides who know how to get our clients into fish.
That’s what we have photos of happy clients each week. We cant guarantee salmon every day but we can guarantee that you’ll be casting to plenty of salmon and having a great experience both on the river and back at the lodge. That all being said, a good rainfall will change everything!
Granted we have low water conditions we did manage to have another respectable weeks fishing on our rivers. We landed a good number of salmon and grilse including some fresh from the sea. Our saving grace is our water remains cool even when low. This time of the season our nights are considerable cooler keeping the temperature down..
This weeks fly selection, the Blue Charm, Stone Ghost and green Machine. Dry’s have continued to be the big winners especially Dark Brown , Blue and Forest Green bombers. Small hitched tubes are also producing a good number of fish as well.
Until Next Week,
Tight lines,
Glenn
