We had a good week at camp with decent numbers of fish hooked and landed, in fact the best week of the season so far. Despite the dry conditions and low water we did very well .The weather has continued to be hot and sunny with temperatures in the high 20’s and very humid, defiantly not the best fishing conditions.
The Bonaventure produced well this week especially in our lower pools. we never missed in Poirier pool all week long. Last weeks full moon gave us some of the highest tides of the season along with a nice run of fresh salmon, despite low water fishing was great.
The Bonaventure is still running cool but very low at 11 Cubic Meters per second. We are having a good season on the Petite Cascapedia but like the Bony its very low. This week the Petite Cascapedia was flowing at 9 cubis meters per second, a new record low for mid July. The Grand Cascapedia is fishing well despite the very low water. The Grand was at 13 on Sunday, matching historical lows for mid July.
Considering the conditions we are still catching fish every day. We need rain, the weather man is calling for rain and showers this week, but we all know how accurate they can be. Lets hope they are right for once!
The hot fly’s for the week have been a mixture of dry’s and small wets. Green, Blue and Dark Brown Bombers were responsible for most of the catches. In the wet fly department, the John Olin, Green Machine and Stone Ghost came out in front for the week,
Until Next week,
Tight Lines,
