Camp Bonaventure Fishing & River Report – Sept 28th to 30th, 2015

Our 2015 season has now come to an end, and what a great season it was! 2015 stacks up there with some of the best years since I started on the river, that was 35 years ago. Combined,  Camp Bonaventure and Salmon Lodge guests hooked over 1500 fish this season!  The last few days have given us some of the best fishing if the season, all of our guests landed nice salmon and big ones! Its great to end the season a such a great note.

The Bonaventure, Grand Cascapedia and Petite Cascapedia rivers experienced a wonderful season and returns were excellent. The weather man was predicting a warm dry summer, he couldn’t have been more off the mark. From opening day until mid September we saw more rain than I can ever remember.

The river conditions were great throughout the entire season, 2015 was certainly a season to remember. Who knows what 2016 will bring, really there is no way to know. One indication we have always looked at is the return of grilse on a given year, historically a good grilse year  has always been followed by a good salmon year, 2015 was a great years for grilse returns.
