It’s hard to believe the month of June has already come and gone. Time sure does fly by when you’re having a good time! This first week of July was another great one for the books! We shared our week with wonderful returning friends as well as some new faces.
Mother nature brought back the weather we are a lot more accustomed to for the month of June this past week. Our days were comfortable in the 20+ degrees celsius range with very little humidity. We received the rain we all prayed for mid-week and again near the end.
All three rivers are flowing at their average rates this week and continue to supply our guests with some wonderful fishing! The Bonaventure river began and finished its week flowing around 15 cubic meters per second. It dropped to a minimum of 13 cubic meters per second throughout the week but the rain fell in all the right places and picked her back up.
The Grand Cascapedia began this week flowing at 21 cubic meters per second and then hit 15 cubic meters per second at the end of the week. This is low for the Grand Cascapedia at the beginning of July. Fortunately, we received some heavy rain on Sunday and the Grand is on the rise. The Petite Cascapedia began and finished its week flowing at approximately 13 cubic meters per second. The rain received mid-week helped maintain its levels and allowed for some great fishing.
The salmon’s choice of flies this week have been a mixture of dry’s and small wets. Green, Brown and dark Blue Bombers were very productive this week. As for wet flies, the Stone Ghost, Green Butt and Green Machine in sizes 8’s and 10’s have caught the salmon’s eye.
Stay safe & Tight Lines,
Julia
