In Last weeks report I mentioned the weather man was predicting ” a considerable amount of rain” for our area. Rain is always welcome when you own a fishing lodge, especially an Atlantic salmon camp. Always welcome, well, until now!
The week started off well with a few fish hooked in our lower pools on Monday and Tuesday . Just as we were getting geared up for a great week, the sky’s opened and dumped enough rain for the rest of the month. The Bonaventure was flowing at 90 cubic meters per second, a slight bit high but very fishable for this time of the season. Three days of heavy rain on Wednesday, Thursdau and Friday dumbed over 90 mm or 3 inches on us. The Bony rose to 260, The Petite Cascapedia to 220 and the Grand Cascapedia to 225. As I’m writing this report its warm and sunny, just what we need. That’s the good news, the bad is that we are supposed to get another 20 mm tomorrow, not as much however as they were predicting. We just have to deal with high water for another few days but the long range is showing sunny and warmer from mid week on.
As the expression goes “short term pain for long term gain” Hopefully next weeks report will have a few pics of big fish and most importantly lower water.
Until next week,
Tight lines,
Glenn
