Welcome to The Club’s first fishing and river report for our 2019 season. This year at The Club we are very excited to introduce to you our new management team – Frank Barriault who will be taking on the title of Manager and Sylvia Sinclair as Assistant Manager. We welcome them with open arms to our team and wish them a wonderful season.
Although we were eager to get the season on its way, Mother Nature had other plans for our spring. Our temperatures have been quite cold, the snow melted very slowly and the river levels remained high longer than expected. Our June 11th opening has given the Bonaventure river the time it needed to take shape for a great season. The Club is well known for having a wonderful stretch of water and prime holding pools such as Double Camp, Gallagher, Portage and Deep Water Ledge to name a few. This year we have added another prime beat consisting of twelve great pools. Our guests will have exclusive access to fish very famous pools such as Baker, Luna, Deer Landing and Cox.
The Bonaventure river is clearing up nicely and was flowing at approximately 80 cubic meters per second this week. The water level is still a little high for this time of year as our norm ranges from 40 to 50 cubic meters per second. With these water conditions, our guides’ flies of choice are the Stone Ghost, Nagli, Silver Rat and Picasse in sizes 2, 4 and 6.
Olivier Poirier is the newest addition to our guide team. He is a passionate fisherman and great teacher. Olivier is one of the most attentive, knowledgeable and caring guides you could ever ask for on the river. Welcome to the team Olivier!
Here’s to a great season!
Tight Lines,
Julia
