July fishing is off to a fantastic start! As our water levels were beginning to drop, thunder storms up in the head waters gave us the rain we needed to maintain the rivers. The Bonaventure is at June 1st levels while the Grand Cascapedia and Petite Caascapedia came up considerably and fishing was difficult for a day or two. Fishing continues to be absolutely fantastic with all our guests catching salmon each day. We are beginning to see a few grilse showing up over the past week or so.
The hot flies continue to be the Blue Charm, Stone Ghost and the Undertaker. Tube fly’s are always a favorite and continue to produce daily. Dry fly action slowed a bit due to higher and stained water but were working well by the end of the week.
